2. Click the Email button.

3. On the window that appears fill out the options as follows:

Email Address: your full email address – eg foo@foo.com
Password: your mail box password
Display name: Your name exactly as you want it to appear to recipients when they receive email from you

Check the ‘Manually configure server settings’ option

4. Click Next.

5. ‘Configure server settings’ should appear. Fill out these options as follows:

Server address: mail.<domain> – replace <domain> with your domain name, so for example mail.foo.com
Port: 143
‘Requires a secure connection (SSL)’ should remain unchecked

Authenticate using: Clear text

Outgoing server information :-

Port: 25 – however some ISPs do block port 25 for external mail services, so if you experience difficulties sending email then you should try port 587

6. Click Next. Windows Live Mail will display a ‘Finished’ message, connect to your mail box and download all email.

How To Choose The Right Domain

As you already know, its not so easy to find your ideal .com domain, as the chances are, its already been registered. You will need to activate your imagination in order to find something special. You can brainstorm ideas with your business partner, collegues, family or friends, in order to build a list of potential names for your online business.

Its always beneficial if you choose a domain name that includes one of your target keywords, as this will help you to create a more relevant website within your market and also helps you gain higher rankings within the search engines for your target keywords. The domain you register must be easy to remember, it should ideally be a .com or .co.uk, if possible dont use (-), as this may be harder for people to remember in the future. Something catchy but without keywords can also work very well.

If you’re accessing your mail on several different computers, IMAP can therefore be useful.

• Start Outlook Express and select the Tools menu. From here select ‘Accounts’.

• In the window that appears press the ‘Add’ button and then select ‘Mail…’

• Enter your name as you would like it to appear to people who receive emails from you. Then click ‘Next’.

• Now you need to enter your incoming and outgoing servers. For the incoming server you should enter mail.yourdomain.com – substituting your own domain name for your own domain. For the outgoing mail server you should enter mail.yourdomain.com as before. Then click Next.

• To finish, you need to enter your username (which is your full email address) and password for your mail account that you created within the 987mb control panel. You can view your username and password within the mailbox management area within the 987mb control panel. Once entered please click Next and then Finish.

To allow you to send mail through our mail server you now need to make a small change to the properties of the account. Select ‘Properties’ from the ‘Accounts’ window. You need to click the tick-box that says ‘My server requires authentication’ or ‘This server requires me to log on’ and then click ‘OK’ and ‘Close’

You can now send and receive emails using Outlook Express!

You would create different groups within phpBB to offer different permissions to each specific group. You may want certain people to have admin access or you may want certain members to be unable to access specific features. This icon represents “Home”. If you have navigated deep into the file directory, clicking this icon will send you straight back to the home directory without having to navigate manually back through the folders.

These icons represent back and forward file manager navigation. This enables quick navigation from the previous & existing directories that you have opened. It works just like the back and forward buttons used on your web browser.

These icons represent “Select All” & “Unselect All”. If you wish to select or unselect all files & folders within a certain directory then these icons can be used to speed up the process. Its useful for changing the permissions on all directories or deleting all files/folders at once & saves you from selecting and changing each file & folder one at a time.

These icons represent “New File”, “New Folder” & “Upload File”. If you wish to create a new file or folder, then you would use the first and second icon. If you wish to upload a single file, you can do so using the third icon. You will be unable to upload a folder containing several files using the “Upload File” icon as its for singular files only. You can upload several singular files using this feature, although, if you wish to upload a directory containing several files & folders, then we recommend you use FTP.

Once you have downloaded the FTP Client, you can then launch the software. 1. The FTP Address OR IP Address. (also known as the FTP server or Host).

Please Note:

• Before trying to access FTP, you must first unlock FTP within the right hand sidebar of the control panel. This is an extra feature we have added to increase security across our network. You can unlock for your own specific IP or by time.
• If you have recently opened your account, you will only be able to access FTP using the IP address as the server, as you will have to allow time for your new domain to be registered or the nameservers on your existing domain name to resolve.
• All website files must be uploaded within the “public_html” folder to ensure our server can read your files. Do not delete the public_html folder as this is always required.
• Ensure your websites homepage is named “index.html or index.php”, otherwise your website will not load. It should also be in lowercase letters, without capitals at the beginning.
